I have been involved in the Arts and EduTech Community as a curriculum developer and have educated over 500 K-12 programming classes in various technologies such as Scratch, Python, JS and GitHub.

I want to foster an inclusive environment while creating lessons and posts on different programming features. My goal is to offer support to my learners and create a welcoming environment to best enable growth.

Visual Studio Code, also referred to as VS Code, is a free code editor that can run on multiple operating systems. Below are guides to Mac OS and Windows as of August 2021.

Windows 10

  • Click the this link to download the .exe file for Windows.
  • Once the download has completed, run the .exe file by double clicking on the downloaded file.
  • Read through each prompt as you advance in the installation window by clicking on Accept or Next buttons.
  • After installation is complete press Finish and, by default, VS Code will open.

Mac OS

  • Click this link to download for Mac OS.
  • Once the download has completed, open the browser’s download list and locate the downloaded file.
  • Extract the contents by double clicking.
  • Drag the Visual Studio Code.app into the Applications folder, which will make it available in the Mac OS Launchpad.
